Google's two Complementary BabiesGoogle Adwords is useful mainly to advertisers. It meets their needs as the visitors are directly oriented to the products or services that advertisers are offering on-line. Adsense is more oriented towards web publishers, and through the search engine, Adsense will deliver complex ads that can include text and image to content web pages. Through Adwords, advertisers place ads on Google search pages on the basis of bid keywords. If the keywords you have bid on appear during a search, then your ad will also be displayed together with the search results. This increases your click through rate consistently, considering that you depend on the number of clicks to generate income. Adsense on the other hand is the one deciding which adverts to display by a thorough analysis of the words on your web page. One possible problem with this system for the publisher is that if keywords on the page are scanned, then, your ad may very well appear next to your competitor's. However, in such cases you have the option of prohibiting these ads, once you have spotted them on your site. Your own ad will also be submitted to careful analysis by the Google editors who will give the ok to include the ad in Adsense, or not. Google always makes sure the ad doesn't come from a site that was formerly excluded from the program. After creating an account, you place your ad and select the maximum amount that you can pay per click. Then every time your ad is clicked on, Google will bill your account. With Google Adsense it is a little bit different, considering that there are sites that are not accessed through search engines. However, these sites have Google Adsense accounts, and they place their ads though Google Adwords on other sites. A lot of debate has been going on regarding the pay system. Google Adsense is free of charge; Google even pays you to display Adsense on your site. With Adwords, you pay to have your ads included in their listings. It seems like Google is giving with one hand and taking with the other but it's clearly an effective business model judging by Google's profits! Through Adsense, when a visitor clicks on one of the ads on your site, Adsense pays you a percentage of the bid price Google is charging the publisher that has placed the ad. However, the price and the percentage is not disclosed by Google, as it is considered confidential. Whether your choice is Adsense or Adwords, or both, always consider that better income will come with every effort to optimize content and increase traffic. |
